BTS Stars RM and V Complete Military Service as Fans Celebrate Group’s Imminent Reunion
K-pop superstars RM and V from BTS wrapped up their mandatory military service on Tuesday, much to the delight of their fans who are eagerly anticipating the group’s return, especially with more members set to finish their duties later this month. As they stepped out in their army uniforms, they were greeted by a cheering crowd near the military base, where they saluted and promised fans that they would be back on stage soon.
Earlier, two other members, Jin and J-Hope, completed their military service and have since been busy with solo performances and making appearances on various variety shows.
It looks like Jung Kook and Suga are expected to finish their military service by June 21, according to various media reports. The world-famous K-pop group BTS hasn’t put out a group project since 2022, and the members are eagerly looking forward to reuniting.
“After pursuing our own little ventures, we are now coming back together, and I love that for us,” J-Hope told a magazine in December.
Entertainment group HYBE (352820.KS), the powerhouse behind BTS, is gearing up for an exciting event called BTS FESTA this week, inviting fans to join in the celebration of the band’s 12th anniversary. While it’s still uncertain if the members will make an appearance, Jin was there last year, adding to the anticipation.
As of 0211 GMT, HYBE’s shares climbed by 2.3%, reaching their highest level in over three years.
With a bouquet of flowers in hand to mark their return from the army, RM expressed his eagerness to perform the most.
“(Members) would feel the same, but stage performance, I want to perform the most. I’ll work hard to make an album soon and come back to the stage,” RM said, after playing the sax for the crowd.
Fans from all corners of the globe flocked to South Korea to celebrate the return of their “life-changing” idols.
“It is just absolutely joyful. That is now four out, two again tomorrow and then Suga. Then we have OT7, we have seven kings back with us,” said Philip Darbyshire, a 72-year-old Australian fan, referring to the band’s seven members.
“It is just wonderful.”
