Elon Musk’s baby mama sues over explicit images
The mother of one of Elon Musk’s children is taking legal action against his company, claiming that explicit images of her were created by his Grok AI tool, including one where she was underage.
Ashley St Clair has filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of New York against xAI, asserting that Grok, which operates on the social media platform X, had promised to stop generating explicit images but failed to do so.
She is seeking both punitive and compensatory damages, alleging that Grok produced dozens of sexually explicit and degrading deepfake images.
Following two weeks of public outrage over the tool being used to create sexualized images of women and children, the company announced on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, that it would “geoblock” the ability for users to generate images of real people in bikinis, underwear, and similar attire through the Grok account and in Grok on X in countries where such actions are illegal.
St. Clair, 27, is a right-wing influencer, author, and political commentator who has distanced herself from Musk. Together, they share a son who was born in 2024.
She’s currently represented by Carrie Goldberg, a lawyer known for advocating for victims’ rights. Goldberg specializes in holding tech companies accountable and has a track record of representing women who have faced sexual harassment and abuse.
Goldberg shared with the Guardian, “xAI isn’t a safe product at all; it’s more of a public nuisance. No one has suffered more than Ashley St Clair. She took legal action because Grok was harassing her by creating and spreading nonconsensual, abusive, and degrading images, which were then published on X.
“This damage came directly from intentional design choices that allowed Grok to be misused as a tool for harassment and humiliation. Companies shouldn’t be able to dodge responsibility when their products clearly lead to this kind of harm. We’re determined to hold Grok accountable and to help set clear legal boundaries that protect the public from AI being used as a weapon for abuse.”
The lawsuit claims that the social media platform “retaliated against her by demonetizing her X account and generating countless more images of her, including illegal images depicting her in sexual positions, covered in semen, virtually nude, and even images of her as a naked child.”
The filing reveals that Grok generated images, including one of a 14-year-old St Clair in a string bikini, along with explicit content featuring her as an adult, which included a request to “put the girl in a bikini made out of floss.”
The filing emphasizes that these images were essentially nonconsensual, noting that “Grok and xAI were fully aware that St Clair did not consent to the creation or sharing of these images, especially given her requests for removal.”
Additionally, Grok responded to user demands to add tattoos to St Clair’s body, including the phrase “Elon’s whore,” according to the filing.
St Clair, who is Jewish, claims that Grok digitally dressed her in a bikini adorned with swastikas.
The lawsuit asserts that X “financially profited from the creation and distribution of nonconsensual, realistic, sexualized deepfake content portraying the Plaintiff as both a minor and an adult.”
The filing also states that “xAI is directly responsible for the harassment and explicit images produced by its own chatbot, Grok.”
Musk recently took to X to remind users that they are accountable for the images they create on his app. He stated, “Anyone using Grok to make illegal content will face the same consequences as if they uploaded illegal content themselves.”
He went on to clarify, “Clearly, Grok doesn’t just create images on its own; it generates them based on what users request.”
On Thursday, X emphasized its “zero tolerance for any forms of child sexual exploitation, nonconsensual nudity, and unwanted sexual content.”
In a countersuit, the company argued that, per X’s terms of service, St. Clair cannot pursue legal action in New York and must instead do so in Texas.
St. Clair had previously expressed to the Guardian that she felt “horrified and violated,” adding, “It’s just another tool for harassment. Consent is the key issue here.”
She mentioned that Musk’s followers had taken a dislike to her ever since she revealed his ambition to create a “legion” of children. Musk is already a father to 13 kids with three different women.
