Muhoozi demands Ksh128B from US
Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has made a bold demand for Ksh128.5 billion from the United States.
In a statement shared on X on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, Muhoozi insisted that this amount is owed to the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF). “I still demand $1 billion from the USA for the UPDF every year. And they will pay it,” he declared.
Muhoozi, who happens to be the son of Uganda’s long-serving president Yoweri Museveni, had previously announced plans to take a break from social media following a viral outburst.
However, that break didn’t last long, as he quickly returned to the platform, unleashing a flurry of tweets that only intensified an already tense situation.
He took a strong jab at the Chairman of the US Foreign Relations Committee, Jim Risch, who had previously suggested that Muhoozi had crossed a significant line.
“The president’s son, and likely successor, can’t just erase tweets and throw out empty apologies. The U.S. won’t stand for this kind of instability and recklessness when American personnel, U.S. interests, and innocent lives in the region are on the line,” Risch stated after Muhoozi tweeted about suspending cooperation with the US embassy in Kampala, only to delete the tweets and apologize later.
Muhoozi didn’t hold back in his response to the senator, firing back with a passionate statement and daring him to take whatever action he sees fit.
“My name isn’t ‘Commander @mkainerugaba.’ I am General Muhoozi Kainerugaba. What ‘red line’ do you think I’ve crossed? You can reassess whatever you want regarding our cooperation, but you will never DEMEAN and DEGRADE us. You will never make us your slaves,” he asserted.
He brought up King Charles III, making it clear that even though he might not see eye to eye with the Senator, he holds the king in high regard.
“I might have some serious disagreements with a Senator in the United States, but I can never have any issues with the King-Emperor, His Majesty Charles III. He’s my king too,” he expressed.
Muhoozi has stirred up quite a bit of controversy on X, often making headlines with his bold statements, despite his high-ranking position in the military and his close ties to the president.
