Kisii Woman Found Buried
Residents of Nyaura in Kisii County have been left in disbelief after police uncovered the body of a woman who had been reported missing earlier in the day. The discovery, made on Monday evening, has thrown the quiet community into mourning and raised new questions about rising cases of domestic and violent crimes in the region.
According to authorities, 48-year-old Zipporah Bosibori was reported missing by her family on Monday morning after she failed to return home. Hours later, police received information that led them to a compound within the area, where they discovered a freshly dug shallow grave hidden beneath a newly planted banana tree. The disturbing find sent shockwaves through the neighbourhood, with many residents gathering in disbelief as officers cordoned off the scene.
Police arrested a man believed to be connected to the killing and subsequent secret burial. The suspect, who lived in the same compound, was detained for questioning as investigators sought a court order to exhume the body for a post-mortem examination. Officers say they are working to establish the motive behind the crime, which has been described as both “cruel and calculated.”
In a separate incident in Mau Narok, Nakuru County, police are investigating the death of a four-year-old boy who drowned in a disused swamp. The child had been reported missing on November 8, and his body was discovered three days later on a neighbour’s farm. Preliminary reports suggest the boy may have accidentally fallen into the swamp, which was once used as a fish pond but had long been abandoned.
Meanwhile, in Rhamu, Mandera County, police recovered 700 rolls of bhang and three kilograms of unprocessed cannabis during a night raid on a house after neighbours reported gunfire. Officers also found a jungle uniform, military boots, an unregistered motorcycle, and a spent cartridge at the scene. Authorities believe the area has become a major transit route for smugglers transporting drugs from Ethiopia into Kenya.
Police say investigations into all three incidents remain ongoing.
