Head Without Body Speaks to Motorists
Police in Kisumu County are diving into a chilling murder case after a 41-year-old man was discovered beheaded in Muhoroni on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
The grim find was reported around 6:40 a.m. by Wickliff Okoncho, a boda boda rider and security agent, who noticed a human head lying in the middle of the road at Kona Mbaya along the Achego–Muhoroni road.
According to a police report filed at Koru Police Station under OB No. 02/28/10/2025, officers from Achego Patrol Base quickly rushed to the scene, where they discovered a head placed inside a paper bag, carelessly dumped in the middle of the road.
The shocking sight caught the attention of locals, who began to gather as police cordoned off the area.
While officers were processing the scene, another report came in about a headless body found just a few meters from the victim’s rented house in Keiyo Village, located in Songor Sub-location, Tamu Location.
When police arrived at this second scene, they confirmed that the remains belonged to Patrick Okello Amemo, a man from Mawego Village in Homa Bay County. Neighbors described Okello, a tractor driver, as a quiet individual who had lived in the area for several years.
“The body was found lying near his home, with both the head and genitals severed. It seems the body was dumped shortly before dawn,” stated part of the police report reviewed by K24 Digital.
In a statement about the incident, Muhoroni Sub-county OCPD Fredrick Ombaka called the killing disturbing and barbaric, noting that officers were actively pursuing leads to help identify those responsible.
“It’s a shocking and brutal murder. We have recovered both the head and the body, and our detectives are already following crucial leads to figure out what happened and who was involved,” he said.
The remains of the deceased were later taken to Odhoo Morgue for preservation and a post-mortem examination.
Residents of Keiyo Village are in shock after this incident and are calling for increased police patrols in the area. Some have mentioned that insecurity has been on the rise in recent weeks, with reports of theft and violence occurring at night.
