he 2025 Kenya Blockchain and Crypto Conference showcased the growing enthusiasm for digital finance in the country, emphasizing the importance of education, innovation, and local engagement.

Bitget, a global cryptocurrency exchange, took a leading role in this initiative, aiming to equip Kenyans with the essential tools and knowledge needed for embracing crypto. They organized a masterclass that attracted over 100 participants, providing valuable insights into the basics of blockchain and offering hands-on training in areas like peer-to-peer trading, fiat onramps, and copy trading.
“Crypto is more than just trading, it’s about creating access and empowering people. By demystifying crypto and offering locally relevant education, we can bridge the knowledge gap and open up real financial opportunities for everyday Kenyans,” said Mathendu Lorena, Bitget’s Kenya Marketing Lead.

Andrew Letting, who leads Africa Growth at Bitget, highlighted the exciting chance for local fintech companies to tap into the potential of crypto infrastructure.

“Our tools—secure APIs, liquidity support, and backend systems—can help Kenyan businesses offer innovative digital asset services. We see massive potential in Kenya’s developer and startup ecosystem,” he said.

During a panel discussion that included other global exchanges like OKX, MEXC, YIKSI, and Busha, Lorena emphasized the importance of putting users first in our approaches.

“For crypto to take root in Kenya, we must invest in awareness, safety, and simplicity. It’s not just about technology, it’s about trust and usability,” she said.

The event brought together a diverse group of developers, financial experts, regulators, and young innovators, highlighting Kenya’s vital role in Africa’s digital economy. As the adoption of digital solutions continues to rise, speakers emphasized the need for stronger regulations, more inclusive platforms, and increased investment in local talent to ensure that growth is both safe and sustainable.
