Parents Storm St Thomas After All Students Get Ds & Es in KCSE
On Monday, January 12, frustrated parents took matters into their own hands and stormed St. Thomas Raganga Secondary School in Kisii County, demanding accountability from the teachers after the school’s disappointing results in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
In a heated display of anger, the parents confronted the teachers, including the principal, and even locked the administration block in their protest.
They voiced their grievances, accusing the teachers of letting their children down in the 2025 KCSE exams, despite what they felt was a significant investment in their kids’ education.
As the situation grew more intense, all the teachers fled for safety, leaving the staff room empty while parents and local villagers took over the school grounds.
According to various reports, the school’s leading candidate managed to score a D plain in the national exams, while the majority of students ended up with D minus grades, and a few even received Es.
In footage shared by Kenyans.co.ke, parents and some students were seen marching to the school, waving twigs in protest over the institution’s disappointing performance
“I brought my children to this school so that they could get an education, so that they can help me in the future. But the problem is that they have failed and that they can no longer help me the way I expected,” said a parent.
“I currently have a child who is in form four, and he does not know anything. He is currently in his fourth year, yet they have yet to cover the form one syllabus,” the aggrieved parent added.
Parents who spoke to the media expressed their concerns about the school’s disappointing performance in the 2025 KCSE examinations, saying it has significantly affected their children’s future opportunities. They believe that the students are capable of achieving much better results.
Established in 1992, the school has faced ongoing challenges with its KCSE performance over the years. Ironically, it carries the motto, ‘Education for life.’
