ODM MP Is Dead
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has come together with the people of Likuyani to mourn the passing of Enoch Wamalwa Kibunguchy, a respected politician and public servant whose career touched two constituencies and spanned multiple electoral cycles.
The former legislator sadly passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, while receiving treatment in an Eldoret hospital after battling a long illness.
In a heartfelt statement released on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, ODM paid tribute to Kibunguchy, highlighting his dedication and loyalty as a party member. He was the first Member of Parliament elected for the newly established Likuyani Constituency on the party’s ticket before he stepped down to explore other opportunities.
“The Hon. (Dr) Enoch Wamalwa Kibunguchy was elected the first MP for the newly created Likuyani Constituency on the ODM party ticket. He was a dedicated and loyal member of the party before resigning from the party to serve his interests elsewhere. We join the people of Likuyani in mourning the death of this great servant of the people. May his soul RIP,” the party
Kibunguchy’s parliamentary journey began in 2002 when he was elected MP for the then Lugari Constituency, succeeding the late Cyrus Jirongo.
He completed a full term from 2003 to 2007, during which he earned a reputation for being accessible and advocating for local development needs.
However, after electoral boundary changes that divided the original Lugari Constituency, Kibunguchy made history by becoming the first MP for the newly created Likuyani Constituency.
He served Likuyani for two consecutive terms from 2013 to 2022, guiding the early development of the constituency and pushing for initiatives to enhance infrastructure, education, and social services.
The former legislator once described Raila as a politician plagued by bad omens, citing how the ODM leader had lost former close allies, including William Ruto, among others.
He claimed that the deal was his political Waterloo for Odinga and that the opposition veteran leader had lost the whole of Kenya and his dream to lead the country.
“Raila does not know how to keep friends; Ruto, who is giving him sleepless nights, was his ally. After the Hague, Raila abandoned him and said everyone should carry his own cross,” he said.
“He has now lost Western, and whatever he does will never lead this nation. Ukambani, Turkana, North Rift, and other regions are also out of his grasp, so where else will he get the votes?” He posed.
Outside of his political career, the politician was a qualified medical doctor who ran medical facilities in Eldoret Town and at his home. He also held prominent positions within Kenya’s health sector.
