Outrage Over Ng’ang’a Video
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is under increasing pressure to look into some troubling comments made by Pastor James Ng’ang’a after a video emerged online where he made a startling confession during a church service.
In this widely shared video on social media, Ng’ang’a seems to acknowledge that he was part of an eight-member gang involved in the sexual assault of a woman several years ago.
His statements, delivered in front of his congregation, have ignited public outrage and sparked a renewed conversation about the need for accountability among religious leaders.
In response to the video, Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Passaris spoke out against the comments, calling on the authorities to act swiftly.
“I have seen a clip circulating on social media allegedly showing Pastor Ng’ang’a confessing that he and eight others raped a woman. It is no laughing matter. We cannot move past such a serious matter without holding space for real accountability,” she said.
Passaris also pointed out the importance of verifying the video’s authenticity, but stressed that, no matter where it came from, this kind of content definitely deserves a thorough investigation.
“In this era of AI-generated and manipulated videos, I don’t know if the clip is genuine or a deep fake, but one thing remains: it must be investigated. If that video is real, then it is not a sermon; it is a criminal confession. It should have been flagged instantly, and the pastor picked up for questioning by the authorities,” she added.
Passaris mentioned that if the confession actually took place, the pastor ought to work with law enforcement to make sure justice is served for the victim.
“As a man of God, if the pastor did make that confession, he should surrender himself to the police, name the eight others involved, and help deliver justice for the survivor.
“I keep wondering where the woman is today? How has her life been since that ordeal? Did she have a rape child? So many unanswered questions—is she dead or alive? Did she know her perpetrators? Did she report the incident?” she posed.
To wrap things up, Passaris urged the DCI to take swift action on this issue.
“I pray for her, and for all victims and survivors of gang rape. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) must act swiftly to verify the video, protect the victim, and uphold the rule of law,” she concluded.
This news comes just months after Milka Moraa, a woman who gained attention for being shamed by Pastor Ng’ang’a over her rent situation, has successfully secured an affordable housing unit.
Thanks to the generosity of well-wishers, Milka has started the journey to owning a studio apartment at the Mukuru Meteorological Social Housing Site.
The apartment is priced at around Ksh640,000 and comes fully equipped with essential amenities like a kitchen, bathroom, and toilet.
In a media briefing on Monday, February 3, Sheila Waweru, the Acting CEO of Affordable Housing, shared that Moraa will be able to buy the house gradually, especially since she has landed a job that pays her KSh18,000 each month.
Waweru also mentioned that online supporters have already contributed Ksh400,000 to help her with the house deposit, which will assist her as she pays off the mortgage over time.
“Luckily, with the help of Kenyans online, she has a job which is now paying her Ksh18,000, and with that, she can now afford a house in one of our projects – Mukuru, which has 13,000 units undergoing construction currently. What we are looking to help Moraa get is a studio apartment,” she stated.
Moraa expressed her gratitude to the people of Kenya for their support, mentioning that having a home would greatly benefit both her and her family.
“I was really heartbroken when the pastor humiliated me while I told him my predicaments, but I remained hopeful and it has turned out great,” she added.
