Man kills his brother in domestic fight
A man was taken into custody after he fatally attacked his brother during a domestic dispute in Bonyunyu village, located in Nyamira County.
The lifeless body of George Momanyi, 54, was discovered in a pool of blood within a banana plantation shortly after the incident occurred early Saturday morning, according to police reports.
It seems that an argument had erupted between the brothers for reasons that remain unclear, escalating into violence.
The younger brother pursued George into the banana plantation, where he struck him with a fatal blow.
A family member recounted seeing the assailant return to his home, clutching a piece of wood stained with blood, which raised immediate concerns.
At that point, George was missing and unresponsive to calls. A search was initiated, leading to the discovery of his body about 200 meters away.
The remains were transported to the mortuary, awaiting an autopsy. Meanwhile, the younger brother has been arrested on murder charges, as confirmed by the police.
In a separate incident in Homa Bay, an eight-year-old girl tragically drowned in a river close to the Kogelo-Kalanya area. Authorities reported that her body was found floating in the river long after the drowning occurred.
Her remains were also taken to the mortuary for an autopsy and further procedures.
In Chepseon, Londiani, Kericho County, a 16-year-old boy drowned in a dam while swimming.
According to police, the boy lost his life in Kipsigor Dam on Friday afternoon. He was part of a group of children who had gone swimming. His body was recovered the following day and sent to the mortuary for an autopsy and other necessary procedures, as stated by the police.
In Keringet, Kuresoi, Nakuru County, a man has been taken into custody for allegedly murdering his wife during a domestic dispute. The victim, Joyce Yegon, was discovered with stab wounds.
The suspect was apprehended just hours later and has been handed over to local police for processing before his court appearance.
In another case, police in Molo, Nakuru County, are looking into the death of a man whose body was found along the Molo–Nakuru highway. The deceased, identified as 32-year-old Peter Mwangi, has had his body moved to the mortuary while an autopsy is pending.
Meanwhile, in Cherengany, Trans Nzoia County, a gang launched an attack on residents, stealing cash and electronics. Authorities reported that the gang made off with Sh115,000 and other valuables from petrol attendants and shopkeepers before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle, armed with makeshift weapons.
In Koibatek, Baringo County, a driver who was transporting clinker was robbed of cash and other belongings while he was working on his lorry. He sustained injuries during the attack in the Blue Gum area. The victim explained that he was fixing a damaged pressure pipe when a group emerged from nearby bushes and assaulted him on Sunday night. He has since been admitted to a local hospital, while police have begun searching for the assailants.
In a separate incident, police in Makueni are collaborating with prison officials to track down a defilement suspect who escaped from a hospital bed. The suspect, Enock Nzioka, had been receiving treatment at Makueni Level IV Referral Hospital when he managed to flee while under the supervision of officers from Makueni Remand Prison. Local officials have also joined the search for him.
