You killed Him, we forgive you; Millie
Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has taken a stand against those spreading false rumors about the health of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Millie emphasized that while they may be forgiven as Christians, they certainly won’t be forgotten.
During Raila’s funeral service, she shared a touching memory of their last conversation, where she noted that he seemed strong and in good spirits just before his passing.
“I talked to Raila on Monday evening when he was with Adhiambo. I want to confirm that he said ODM needs to be united as a party,” she said.
“When I asked him, ‘Baba, how are you?’ he told me jokingly, ‘Amilo, I’m fine, in the morning I walked around. I’m surprised there are people who have already killed and buried me in Kenya.”
Millie took a stand against those spreading rumors about Raila’s health. She pointed out that while his supporters might forgive them, as is the Christian way, the hurt they caused would linger in their memories.
“For those who killed and buried Raila before his time, because we are Christians, we will forgive you but we will never forget. For those who stood with Raila, we shall never forget. I thank President William Ruto.”
The former Minister Raila sadly passed away from cardiac arrest while he was receiving treatment in India.
Before his death, there had been a lot of public speculation about Raila’s health.
His older brother, Senator Oburu Odinga, had recently reassured Kenyans that Raila was recovering well in India and had dismissed any claims that he was in critical condition.
“I want to tell you that Raila is up and about. Just like any other human being, he was indisposed a little and is now recuperating and resting,” Oburu said last week
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has firmly rejected the rumors about his health, accusing political opponents of spreading lies to tarnish his reputation.
Even with some hospital visits, including a brain fluid drainage surgery in Dubai and a minor back surgery years back, Raila stayed politically engaged, advocating for unity and governance reforms right up until the end.
Raila is being honored as a beacon of resistance, reform, and democracy—a man whose long-standing fight transformed Kenya’s political scene and whose legacy will be felt for generations to come.
Mama Ida Odinga shared that it never once occurred to her that she would have to bury her husband, the former Prime Minister.
During Raila’s final funeral service at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology on Sunday, Ida expressed that she always thought it would be the other way around.
Wearing a black dress and a matching flowing hat, Mama Ida began her eulogy by recognizing God’s goodness, even in the midst of profound sorrow.
She then extended her gratitude to Kenyans, neighboring countries, and the international community for standing with the family in mourning the legendary political figure—before sharing her most heartfelt moment.
“I never imagined that this would fall on me — to lead the family and the world in burying Raila. I hoped it would be the other way round,” she said.
“With pain, without lamentation, I accept the will of God,” she declared.
