The body of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has already arrived at the venue for the funeral service, ready for his final send-off.
Crowds started pouring into the lakeside town from places as distant as Nyeri, Eldoret, and Kasipul. Some mourners mentioned they left as early as Saturday afternoon to make sure they arrived in time for the service.
Many attendees wore orange, the signature color of the ODM party that Raila founded and led for many years, as a gesture of solidarity and respect for the man who played a pivotal role in shaping Kenya’s democratic landscape.
