Flashy Nairobi preacher shuts down church
Flashy city preacher Reverend Lucy Natasha has made the decision to close her church’s physical location in Nairobi’s Central Business District for the foreseeable future.
Natasha, who leads Empowerment Christian Church (ECC), shared that all church services will now take place solely on the church’s online platforms until further notice.
Empowerment Christian Church has been based on the 7th floor of Biashara Plaza, conveniently situated at the intersection of Moi Avenue and Biashara Street.
This location has been the church’s main worship space, drawing in a vibrant, youthful crowd from Nairobi and the surrounding areas.
In a statement posted on her Instagram page, Reverend Natasha reassured her congregants and followers that the ministry is still very much active, even with the physical location closed.
“All services will remain online until further notice. Please stand with us in prayer as we transition toward our own God-ordained space. Let’s stay connected,” she stated.
The vibrant preacher highlighted that the church is currently experiencing a time of transition and prayer as it looks for a more permanent and fitting place to worship.
She reassured the congregation that moving to online services doesn’t mean the end of the ministry; instead, it’s just a temporary shift as the church works through some logistical and operational hurdles.
Empowerment Christian Church has developed a robust digital presence over the years, boasting thousands of followers across various social media platforms.
With livestreamed sermons, online prayer gatherings, and digital devotionals, ECC has effectively engaged its community beyond the church walls, a strategy that will now take the spotlight during this time.
The closure comes at a moment when many urban churches are reevaluating the viability of physical worship spaces due to rising operational costs and evolving worship habits, especially in Nairobi’s CBD.
ECC is joining a growing trend of ministries that have turned to digital platforms as their main way of connecting with their congregations.
muenu.caro said, “It is well, Oracle of God… God will surely provide for you.”
mis-event-tenant-and-décor commented, “It is well; may God honor your request for a dedicated space to worship Him.”
Despite the closure of the CBD location, Reverend Natasha expressed her optimism for the church’s future, viewing this transition as a step toward growth and stability.
ECC members are encouraged to stay connected through the church’s official online channels as they await more updates about the ministry’s next steps and possible relocation.
