Ruto’s jets and helicopters to cost KSH70B
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made some serious allegations against President William Ruto, claiming that he dispatched a team to Vietnam to purchase two executive jets and eight helicopters, all for a staggering price tag of over Ksh70 billion.
Gachagua shared these remarks during a church service at the Ambassadors of Christ Church in Mwea, Kirinyaga County, on Sunday, October 12, 2025. He pointed out that the deal is being managed by high-ranking officials from both the military and the Office of the President.
“As we speak, Honourable Martha, William Ruto has sent a team to Vietnam of officers from the military and from the Office of the President to purchase two executive jets and eight helicopters at a cost of more than 70 billion Kenya shillings,” Gachagua said.
He raised concerns about the timing of the purchase, arguing that it was reckless for the government to spend billions on luxury aircraft while many Kenyans are grappling with the rising cost of living.
“When our children are at home, when hospitals have no medicine, SHA is a scam,” he said. “William Ruto and Aden Duale have purchased their own machines. They are put in every hospital in Kenya, and SHA is paying them 90 percent of the fees and giving only 10 percent to the hospitals. SHA is the greatest scheme and fraud to have ever happened in Kenya.”
Gachagua has called out the government for taking advantage of Kenyans with misleading health reforms, all while some leaders are lining their pockets. He urged the leaders from Mount Kenya to keep supporting the people, emphasizing that staying silent would only make their struggles worse.
“So we leaders here, we must continue to support Kenyans because if we fail to do so, we will face many problems,” he said.
During the same event, Gachagua took a jab at President Ruto for his increasing connections with former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, suggesting it was a scheme to create a rift within Mount Kenya.
“Ruto ameita Gideon Moi, wameongea, na akasema anaunganisha watu wake huko nyumbani ndio apate amani na hataki sisi tuwe na amani hapa Mlima Kenya. Yeye akiunganisha watu wake anasema ni umoja wa kitaifa, nikiunganisha watu hapa anasema ni ukabila,” Gachagua said.
He made a promise to stand firm against any efforts to undermine unity in the region, declaring that he would identify and call out the leaders he believes have betrayed Mount Kenya.
“Kazi yangu inaanza kutoka saa hizi, nitakuwa nikizunguka hii Mlima Kenya kutangaza wasaliti wa mlima, hata kama wewe ni mwanamke tutakutangaza,” he warned.
