Kikuyu MP and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah is heartbroken over the loss of his father, Isaac Ichung’wah Ngugi.

In a statement released to the media, the Office of the National Assembly Speaker shared that the MP’s father, who was 105 years old, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, September 4.

Hon. Members, it is with profound sadness that we notify you of the passing of the father of The Hon. Kimani Ichungwa, EGH, MP, Leader of the Majority Party.

“His father, Mr. Isaac Ichungwa Ngugi, aged 105, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his Kikuyu home early this morning. Following a week-long hospitalization at Karen Hospital, he was discharged last week,” the statement read.

The Office of the Speaker added that the family has begun making funeral arrangements, urging colleagues to offer their condolences.

“The family has initiated funeral arrangements. Hon. Members may pay their condolences to the family starting Tuesday, 9th September 2025. Other details, including Requiem Mass, and interment date for the late Mr. Isaac Ichungwa Ngugi will follow shortly,” the statement added.

In his personal message of condolences, Speaker Moses Wetang’ula hoped that Ngugi’s impact and legacy be felt in generations to come.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of the Kikuyu MP and Leader of Majority, Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah, following the passing of their patriarch, Mzee Isaac Ichung’wa Ngugi.

“Mzee Ngugi, who passed away peacefully in his sleep at his Kikuyu home, lived a remarkable 105 years. As we celebrate a life well lived, we pray that his lasting impact will continue to be felt and his legacy cherished for generations to come,” he said.

On his part, ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo remembered Ngugi as a noble elder who inspired many.

“Deeply saddened by the passing of Mzee Isaac Ichung’wa Ngugi, the beloved father of my friend and Majority Leader, Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah. At 105 years, Mzee lived a truly remarkable life, a noble elder, a pillar of wisdom, and an inspiration to many.

“On my own behalf and that of my family, I extend our heartfelt condolences to Hon. Ichung’wah and his family. May Mzee’s legacy live on and his soul rest in eternal peace,” he wrote on X.

Others who expressed their condolences include Kakamega Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda. She shared, “My thoughts and prayers are with you, Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah, during this difficult time as you grieve your father, Mzee Isaac Ichung’wa Ngugi. May the Lord bring comfort to you and your family, and may your dad’s soul find eternal peace.”
