Burale Sues Ex-Wife, Mwakideu
Pastor and motivational speaker Robert Burale has taken legal action against his ex-wife Rozina Mwakideu and her brother, media personality Alex Mwakideu.
Rozina and Alex are named as the first and second defendants in the case. Burale is asking for Ksh.20 million in damages, claiming defamation from an interview titled “My Biggest Mistake Was Marrying Robert Burale,” which was aired on Alex’s YouTube channel.
In court documents submitted to the Milimani Chief Magistrates’ Court, Burale presents himself as a well-known cleric and asserts that an interview aired on October 4, 2025, on the Alex Mwakideu TV YouTube channel painted him in a negative light, labeling him as manipulative, hypocritical, a swindler, and homosexual.
He contends that these statements are not only false but also malicious, aimed at damaging his reputation, integrity, and role as a pastor and mentor.
Burale goes on to accuse Alex of professional negligence, claiming that the media figure did not take the time to verify the allegations or reach out for his side of the story before broadcasting the content.
Additionally, he criticizes Alex for allegedly urging viewers to “share widely,” which he believes exacerbated the spread of these defamatory claims.
The court documents reference several specific comments from the interview, arguing that they have harmed Burale’s standing among respectable members of society, subjected him to mockery and emotional distress, and threatened his ministry and means of making a living.
Burale is now pursuing a mandatory and permanent injunction that would require the removal of the video and related posts, along with a widely published public apology and a request for the deletion of all re-uploads.
The preacher is also seeking general and aggravated damages amounting to Ksh.20 million, covering the costs of the lawsuit, and any other relief the court finds appropriate.
The lawsuit also mentions a segment from October 7, 2025, on Radio 47, where Alex reportedly distanced himself from some of the comments made during the interview.
This case has been filed under the court’s fast-track procedure, and the defendants have yet to respond.
