Machakos Senator Son Dies
Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu Muthama’s family is in deep sorrow after the unexpected passing of her son, Moses Nduya Muthama.
Reports suggest that Moses collapsed and died on the evening of Wednesday, February 4, shortly after experiencing breathing difficulties.
Efforts to get him to a nearby hospital were in vain, as he sadly passed away upon arrival, leaving the family devastated.
Nduya was the only child of Kavindu and former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama, who also held the position of chairperson for the United Democratic Alliance.
His death has sent shockwaves in Machakos and across the country, even as leaders and friends took to social media to console the family.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Machakos Senator, Agnes Kavindu Muthama and her family during this difficult time,” said Kitui Senator Enock Wambua.
“I’m deeply sorry to hear about the loss of your son, Moses Muthama. Please accept our sincerest condolences. Pole sana, Mheshimiwa,” he added.
While the specifics of his death are still a bit murky, his body is currently being kept at a local mortuary in Machakos, waiting for a postmortem examination.
This latest tragedy comes just about three years after Johnston Muthama faced the heartbreaking loss of his daughter, Janet Njoki.
Janet passed away in April 2022, and at that time, President William Ruto, who was serving as Deputy President, spoke highly of her, calling her a diligent, responsible, and honest individual who was incredibly dependable.
Even though they announced her passing, Muthama’s family decided to keep the details surrounding her death private. She was laid to rest at the family home in Tala, Machakos County.
In the meantime, Senator Kavindu has joined the ranks of prominent political figures who have experienced the loss of loved ones over the past year.
This group includes Dagoretti MP Beatrice Elachi, who lost her son in March of last year, and Speaker Moses Wetangula, who mourned the loss of his brother in December of the same year.
