Timboroa Highway Crash
Motorists traveling along the busy Nakuru–Eldoret Highway on the morning of Friday, October 10, 2025, faced heavy traffic after a serious accident occurred near Timboroa Forest, a notorious blackspot for frequent road mishaps.
The collision involved a private car and a lorry, causing a major traffic snarl-up that stretched for several kilometers. Witnesses at the scene reported that the crash happened early in the morning, just as vehicles began to flow steadily toward Nakuru.
According to the Long Distance Drivers and Conductors Association (LoDDCA), traffic was moving slowly as drivers tried to navigate past the wreckage. Despite the congestion, vehicles were still able to inch forward cautiously.
A video shared by Kenyans.co.ke showed the private car’s front section completely wrecked, while the lorry sustained only minor damage. Fortunately, no fatalities or serious injuries were reported in the Timboroa crash.
The accident came just hours after another incident along Mombasa Road on Thursday night. In that case, a company van collided with a private car, leaving both vehicles damaged. Photos from the scene showed the van’s front crushed after ramming into the rear of the car. Like the Timboroa crash, no casualties were confirmed.
Authorities have yet to determine the exact causes of the two accidents. However, preliminary reports suggest that speeding, fatigue, and poor visibility in the early morning hours could have contributed.
In response to the growing number of road accidents across the country, the Road Safety Association of Kenya (RSAK) has renewed calls for urgent reforms in the transport sector. RSAK Chairperson David Kiarie urged the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to revoke all driving licenses issued within the past six years, claiming that a large number of them were obtained fraudulently by individuals who never attended accredited driving schools.
Kiarie emphasized that stricter enforcement, proper driver training, and improved road discipline are key to reducing the increasing number of road crashes witnessed nationwide.
As investigations continue, motorists are being urged to exercise caution, especially along major highways such as Nakuru–Eldoret and Mombasa Road, where accidents have become alarmingly frequent.
