Homeless Man Chooses Dignity
Nairobi City County’s Chief Environment Officer, Geoffrey Mosiria, shared an interesting encounter he had with a homeless man in Eastleigh. He approached the man with a kind offer to help him get off the streets and find a place to live.
However, in a statement made on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, Mosiria was taken aback when the man graciously turned down the offer. He explained that he felt quite at home on the streets and instead requested a new pair of shoes, some decent clothes, and Ksh1,000.
“Instead, he asked me to get him a new pair of shoes, decent clothes, and Ksh1,000. I kept my promise and fulfilled his request. Tonight, he sleeps a happy man with new shoes, a new suit, and a restored sense of dignity,” he stated.
Mosiria took a moment to reflect on the encounter, highlighting that genuine kindness isn’t measured by how much money or assistance one offers, but rather by the humanity and respect we extend to others.
“Sometimes, it’s not about how much money you give someone; it’s the small acts of humanity that transform lives and fulfill the deepest desires of the heart. True kindness isn’t measured by what you give, but by the dignity you help restore,” he said.
Just a few weeks ago, Mosiria shared some heartwarming news about a man who was once rescued while living in a tree along Jogoo Road.
On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, through his X handle, Mosiria announced that the man, affectionately known as Mr. Tree Man, has landed a job!
He’ll be starting as a brand marketer at Sialkot Motors Ltd, which is situated on Ngong Road.
Mosiria expressed his joy at witnessing such a positive change in the man’s life.
“Finally, the man I rescued from a tree along Jogoo Road has secured a job at Sialkot Motors Ltd along Ngong Road.”
He went on to share that the man is about to embark on an exciting new chapter in his life as the official brand marketer for the company.
“I sincerely thank Kenyans who stood with him, and I also appreciate Sialkot Motors for stepping in to give him this life-changing opportunity.”
Mosiria expressed his gratitude to God, acknowledging that it wasn’t just his own strength that enabled him to help, but rather the guidance he received from a higher power.
