Narok School Closure Tragedy
The officials from the Ministry of Education in Narok County have made the difficult decision to indefinitely close Narok Adventist Primary and Junior Secondary School after a heartbreaking incident where a Grade Nine student was tragically found murdered on the school grounds.
The 14-year-old student was discovered dead over the weekend, and the circumstances surrounding his death are truly chilling. His body was located in the dormitory, showing clear signs of a struggle and visible injuries.
Witnesses reported seeing blood on the ground at the scene, with additional traces found in a nearby washroom. The exact details of what transpired remain unclear, prompting police to launch an investigation into the incident.
This shocking revelation has plunged the school community into deep mourning, leaving students, teachers, and parents grappling with the brutal reality of this tragic loss.
Preliminary reports indicate that a student may have been attacked during the early hours of the morning.
Apollo Apuko, the Narok County Education Director, has confirmed that the school will remain closed indefinitely while investigations are underway.
He urged parents to stay calm and give authorities the necessary time to determine the cause and motive behind this troubling incident.
The student’s body has been taken to the Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination, with police and education officials treating the situation with urgency as tensions rise among parents and the local community.
On Monday, a group of heartbroken parents gathered at the school, expressing their frustration over the administration’s failure to communicate the incident in a timely manner.
Many are demanding justice and calling for enhanced security measures in schools nationwide.
Some parents have warned that if the government and school officials cannot ensure their children’s safety, they will take it upon themselves to guard schools across the country.
“This school is in my neighbourhood, and we are still in utter shock over what has happened,” said John Gatua, a Narok County CEC. “We did not hear any signs of struggle or noise that night. It’s frightening to imagine that a student could be slaughtered like this.”
Gatua mentioned that initial assessments suggest the murder likely took place in the early morning hours, but the motive is still a mystery. He expressed strong condemnation of the act, labeling it an unprecedented tragedy for the region.
