MP Involved in a Road Accident
Buuri MP Mugambi Rindikiri was involved in a road accident on Thursday morning while traveling along the Nanyuki–Meru highway, on his way to attend President William Ruto’s NYOTA programme at Kinoru Stadium.
Initial reports suggest that the MP is safe and in stable condition, with no serious injuries, allowing him to continue with his scheduled duties.
The accident took place near Siraji, Timau, and involved another vehicle that was carrying Catholic sisters. Thankfully, all the occupants of both vehicles are reported to be unharmed.
Emergency responders and security personnel quickly arrived on the scene to manage the situation and ensure everyone’s safety.
Mugambi took to social media to confirm the incident, expressing his gratitude to Kenyans and his constituents for their concern and prayers.
“My team and I appreciate the concern shown following a road incident. We are all safe and doing well. Thank you to my constituents and fellow Kenyans for the prayers and goodwill,” he said.
Investigations into the accident’s cause are still underway, and authorities haven’t shared all the details about the collision yet. However, it’s known that both the legislator’s vehicle and the other car only suffered minor damage.
Interestingly, during the NYOTA exercise, speakers, including President Ruto, didn’t bring up what happened to the MP on his way to the event.
The Jubilee MP, who represents Buuri Constituency in Meru County, has been serving in Parliament since 2017. He has a diverse background that includes both public service and experience in the private sector.
Before stepping into the political arena, Rindikiri held high-ranking roles in the insurance industry. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Planning Officer at the Kenya Post and Telecommunications Corporation from 1984 to 1991, where he honed his skills in administrative planning and operations.
In a related note, Rindikiri’s incident brings to mind a similar event from 2024, when Igembe South MP John Paul Mwirigi was involved in a road accident in Chuka, Meru County. That accident happened around noon in the Kirubia area when the vehicle carrying the legislator veered off the road and rolled onto its side.
Fortunately, everyone inside, including the MP, walked away without any injuries.
