An MP Arrested
Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi has reported that he was arrested by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) under somewhat mysterious circumstances.
In a short statement on Tuesday, January 20, the legislator described how the arrest involved a forceful approach from the officers, who initially took him to the DCI Headquarters.
“I was aggressively blocked by DCI officers and arrested, being taken to DCI Headquarters,” he shared on Facebook.
He later mentioned that he had been taken to Muthaiga Police Station.
This arrest comes just a month after CCTV footage surfaced, showing Kibagendi involved in an altercation with a man inside a Java House outlet.
According to a video from November 27, 2025, a man named Enock Omariba Moriasi was sitting in a corner of a restaurant enjoying his meal when things took a turn for the worse.
Kibagendi walked in wearing jungle green trousers, a black jacket, and a mask, and he was seen pointing and seemingly yelling at Moriasi.
The footage captures Moriasi responding verbally, but it’s not clear what triggered their exchange.
Things escalated quickly when the MP kicked Moriasi in the chest and grabbed him by the neck, which led to staff and other customers rushing in to break up the confrontation.
Despite attempts to hold him back, Kibagendi kept up his attack, landing a punch on Moriasi that sent him crashing to the ground.
The video also captures the MP slapping another customer who tried to step in and stop him.
After a few tense moments, things started to settle down, with Kibagendi and Moriasi exchanging a few words before the MP turned and left the restaurant.
Earlier, a dramatic scene unfolded in Parliament when Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale and Kibagendi got into a heated argument during a session of the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Health.
This session, which took place on October 14, 2025, was supposed to focus on health sector issues, but it quickly spiraled into chaos as tempers flared between the two leaders.
In a viral clip from the meeting, the two could be seen shouting at one another while committee members looked on, prompting the Chair, Seme MP James Nyikal, to step in.
“We ask you to make your point and leave it at that; let the Chair continue,” Nyikal said, trying to restore some order to the situation.
Despite his attempts, the tension remained high. Kibagendi accused Duale of trying to dominate the committee session and intimidating the Chair.
Things heated up even more when Nyikal warned the MP that he might be asked to leave if he kept interrupting, to which Kibagendi shot back that he was ready to go.
The drama escalated when Duale claimed that the legislator had a conflict of interest.
“You shouldn’t be part of this committee due to a conflict of interest; I’ll be writing to the speaker,” Duale declared, igniting another wave of heated exchanges.
Kibagendi, clearly upset, challenged the CS, demanding proof of the accusations.
“Show me evidence that I own a facility. You’re the one who shouldn’t be in the Ministry of Health. Your company is robbing the Social Health Authority (SHA),” he fired back.
After this outburst, Nyikal instructed Kibagendi to leave the meeting.
As he stepped out, the MP kept the conversation going with Duale, throwing accusations of corruption and arrogance at the CS.
“You’re a thief! You’re robbing people blind; who do you think you are? You really believe you can scare us?” Kibagendi fired back as he left the room.
