I Can’t Fear You – Oburu Oginga
Oburu Oginga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, has firmly addressed the internal faction questioning his leadership abilities.
Just three months into his role as the official party leader, Oburu confidently stated that he possesses everything needed to guide the Orange party toward success.
In what seemed like a response to Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, he assured that ODM is in good hands, highlighting his past involvement in significant discussions related to the party.
Babu had suggested holding a National Delegates Conference (NDC) to bring in new leadership.
In response, Oburu expressed his willingness to convene an NDC soon, emphasizing his commitment to solidifying his position as the party leader.
“Those who are saying that Oburu was not validly elected, I challenge them to go together with me to the NDC if that is what they want. I will call the NDC very soon. I challenge them to come. I don’t fear anyone,” he said.
Oburu emphasized that ODM will stick to the broad-based arrangement until 2027, even with the internal divisions that have put the party’s unity at risk. He pointed out that the priority is to ensure that both party members and the electorate in the Nyanza region can reap the benefits of the current administration.
“We are currently working with the government and President William Ruto. We want to see that in the remaining short time, our people gain as much as they should. They should get their share, which they have been denied for many years.
Oburu stepped into the leadership role of ODM after the tragic passing of his younger brother, Raila Odinga, who left us on October 15, 2025. Raila had been at the helm of the party for two decades, guiding it through thick and thin. However, Oburu’s time in charge has been marked by internal strife, as different factions within the party clashed over whether to back Ruto’s re-election.
