Man Killed, Body Found in Murang’a
Police are looking into the murder of a man whose body was discovered abandoned on a farm in Makuyu, Murang’a County.
The victim has been identified as 40-year-old John Gachoka Gichuhi.
At the time his body was found, he was living alone, according to police reports.
A neighbor went to check on him and stumbled upon the gruesome scene on October 9, 2025, where he found John murdered and left at a nearby farm.
His body was covered with his jacket, which was found lying in a pool of blood.
As of now, the motive behind the murder remains unclear, police have stated.
Authorities noted that the deceased had visible injuries to his head, and his body was indeed covered with a jacket.
They also recovered a stone stained with blood at the scene, which was buried under some soil that they suspect was used in the crime.
The body has been taken to the mortuary, where an autopsy is pending.
In another incident in Bangale, within Tana River’s Takamba village, a 40-year-old man lost his life during an attack on their tent.
Unidentified assailants invaded the area and assaulted the residents, resulting in the man’s death. The reason for the attack is still unknown, according to police.
The victim was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. Police also mentioned that another man was injured and is currently recovering from wounds sustained during the incident on October 9, 2025.
Investigations are ongoing, and the body has been moved to a local mortuary for an autopsy.
In the nearby Bura area, four gunmen opened fire, killing a 30-year-old man in the process.
Police reported that Muhamud Abdi Elema was shot in the upper arm and died instantly at a watering point.
Police reported that they arrived at the scene and found two spent cartridges of 7.62mm ×39 special ammunition.
The police team believes that the gunmen may have been seeking revenge for the death of one of their own from last year.
The body has been taken to the mortuary, where it will await an autopsy and further investigation.
Authorities have expressed concerns about potential retaliatory attacks in the area.
In another incident, an 88-year-old man tragically lost his life in a fire in Mbuku village, Kathiani, Machakos County.
Samuel Muoka Mathai’s lifeless body was discovered in his kitchen on the morning of Thursday, October 9, 2025, long after he had passed away, according to police.
His upper body showed signs of burns. Family members shared that he had been disabled for the past six years and lived alone.
A woman who had been caring for him arrived to find the house locked from the inside. This prompted her to call for help when they realized he was dead and had suffered burns.
Police noted that the wheelchair he used was also partially burned. The cause of the fire remains unknown, but an investigation is underway.
The body was taken to the mortuary for an autopsy and further inquiries.
In a separate case in Cherengany, Trans Nzoia County, a 32-year-old man named Amos Kipruto was found dead beneath a tree.
He had been beaten by locals who accused him of stealing three sacks of maize from his uncle.
After the incident, he returned home and went to sleep, but a relative later moved him outside to bask in the sun on October 9, 2025. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries while lying under the tree.
Police were notified and transported the body to the mortuary for an autopsy and other necessary procedures.
Authorities are actively searching for the individuals responsible for the assault.
