Odinga Resting, Not Ailing
While chatting with residents of Migori on Tuesday afternoon, Ida reassured everyone that Raila is doing just fine and has actually gone abroad to take a breather from the political scene in Kenya.
She raised an interesting point, questioning how those who aren’t close to Raila could possibly know more about his health than she does.
Ida firmly dismissed the rumors about Odinga’s health, emphasizing that she’s the one who truly knows his situation since they live together, unlike those who are spreading the gossip.
“In the past week, people have been disturbed by rumours claiming Raila is sick. If his condition were truly as serious as they say, I would have taken him to a hospital here in Migori for treatment,” Ida stated.
“He is fine, he is just resting abroad. How can someone who does not live with him claim to know his health status, while I, who stays with him, am unaware of any issues? Baba is okay,” she added.
To put Kenyans at ease, the former Prime Minister’s wife shared some warm greetings from Odinga, mentioning that the ODM leader would be returning to the country soon.
Ida’s remarks come amid rumors that Odinga may have left the country for medical treatment due to his declining health.
In the meantime, just hours after ODM party’s Communications Director Philip Etale shared his thoughts, he reassured Kenyans that the veteran politician was doing well. Etale revealed that he had a phone call with Odinga, who dismissed the rumors as mere online propaganda. The former Prime Minister urged Kenyans to pray for those spreading such unfounded claims.
“I have just spoken with Raila Odinga, just under five minutes ago. He is jovial and happy,” Etale said. Adding that Odinga told him, “I am seeing people spreading so much propaganda online. Let’s keep praying for them.”
The ODM Communications Director added, “He has sent me to convey his greetings to all of you and says he will be back in a few days.”
