Vihiga School Bus Accident
On Friday morning, an unfortunate road accident left an unknown number of students injured. The incident involved a bus that was transporting students and teachers from Salvation Army Imusutsu High School along the Kisumu-Busia highway in Sirwa Posta, Vihiga County.
The accident happened around 7 am when the bus lost control and overturned on the roadside.
According to reports, the bus was on its way from Vihiga County to Meru for the Kenya National Music Festival.
This two-week event kicked off on Monday, August 4, and brings together students from schools all over the country, celebrating the theme, “Enhancing the Creative Economy through Artistic Expression.”
The footage from the accident revealed a bus flipped over, its windscreen shattered, windows broken, and seats damaged, clearly showing the severity of the situation.
In the aftermath, a rescue team, primarily made up of local residents, rushed to the scene and started helping those trapped in the wreckage.
The police arrived shortly after, as reports indicate, and set up a perimeter around the area, which was beginning to draw a crowd.

This latest incident adds to the troubling number of road accidents that have occurred in the country over the past month. Just hours earlier, eight people lost their lives in a separate crash in the Monderat area of Naivasha, Nakuru County.
That accident happened on the evening of Thursday, August 7, when a freight train collided with a company bus at a level crossing, resulting in the immediate deaths of all eight individuals.
According to reports, the bus was transporting company workers returning from a morning shift when the train struck it, dragging the bus for over 200 meters.
Just two days prior, another incident saw a fully loaded matatu overturn on Waiyaki Way in Westlands, Nairobi, causing a major traffic jam during the morning rush.
Fortunately, the police reported no fatalities in that accident, although several people sustained injuries and were quickly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
