Over 1.15M Kenyans to Receive Inua Jamii Cash
The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has released over Ksh.4.6 billion under the Inua Jamii cash transfer program, targeting more than 1.15 million vulnerable Kenyans across the country.
In a statement issued by Joseph Motari, the Principal Secretary for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs, the funds—totaling Ksh.4,607,668,000—are meant to cover stipend payments for the months of June and July 2025. Each enrolled beneficiary is set to receive Ksh.4,000, with Ksh.2,000 allocated for each month.
Motari confirmed that the payments started going out on Thursday, noting that the government is committed to ensuring no one is left behind, especially those most in need. He acknowledged the delay in the June payments, attributing it to a routine data cleanup process that was necessary to update and verify the records in the program’s registry.
“We apologize sincerely to the beneficiaries for any inconvenience caused by this delay. It was an essential step to make sure that only genuine and eligible recipients continue to benefit from the program,” said Motari.
The Inua Jamii program is a social protection initiative that supports senior citizens aged 70 years and above, orphans and vulnerable children, as well as persons with severe disabilities. It is part of the government’s broader effort to fight poverty, improve livelihoods, and uphold the dignity of Kenya’s most at-risk populations.
In addition to receiving financial assistance, beneficiaries are also being encouraged to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA). This registration will enable them to access affordable, quality healthcare services, supporting the government’s push toward achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
“The government remains committed to creating a society where the vulnerable are not forgotten, and where everyone has access to basic needs, including healthcare and income support,” added Motari.
