Riruta Stabbing Kills Woman, Two Hurt
A man fatally stabbed a woman during a confrontation at his home in a village in Riruta, Nairobi County.
On Saturday morning, January 17, he also attacked another woman and her 15-year-old daughter, injuring them in a fit of rage, according to police and witnesses.
The incident took place in the Ngando area, as reported by the police.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and the identity of the deceased has not yet been revealed.
The injured woman and her daughter were quickly taken to the hospital with injuries to their heads and hands. They lived nearby the assailant, according to police.
After the attack, the assailant fled the scene, and authorities are currently investigating the matter.
Several murder cases were reported over the weekend.
In Katito, Kisumu County, a man was beaten to death by his brothers during a family dispute over a piece of land.
Police reported that Michael Onyango, 32, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital following the attack at his home. The attackers fled after the murder on January 17, 2026, according to police.
His body has been taken to the mortuary for an autopsy and other necessary procedures, and police are actively working to apprehend the suspects.
In Naivasha, Nakuru County, a 34-year-old man named Paul Mabiri died in the hospital after being assaulted by his wife during a confrontation. Following the incident on January 16, police arrested the wife for murder investigation.
In Menengai, Nakuru County, a suspect was taken into custody in connection with a murder that occurred on January 29, 2023, in Gatanga, Muranga County.
Additionally, a tragic accident in Naromoru, Nyeri County, claimed the life of a four-year-old French child.
On January 17, there was an accident involving a car that a child was riding in, according to police reports. They mentioned that the driver was in the process of overtaking other vehicles when the incident occurred.
In the car, four other French nationals sustained injuries. Additionally, five people from a vehicle belonging to the Kenya Wildlife Service were also hurt in the crash.
Authorities are currently looking into the matter.
In Chinga, Nyeri County, a 35-year-old man named Paul Waithaka Kabuu was discovered dead after being attacked by an unidentified wild animal.
His body was found with puncture wounds on his head and a bite mark on his right thigh.
The remains have been taken to the mortuary while an autopsy is awaited. Police have stated that officials from the Kenya Wildlife Service have been called in to assist with the investigation into his death.
They aim to identify the animal responsible for the attack so that appropriate measures can be taken.
