KWS Launches Park Shuttle Services
The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has just shared some exciting news: they’re rolling out bus shuttle services in three national parks for the festive season!
In a statement released on Tuesday, November 16, they mentioned that these bus services will kick off on Saturday, December 20, making it easier for everyone to explore the parks.
KWS announced that the buses will be operating at Nairobi National Park, Aberdare National Park, and Lake Nakuru National Park.
For those visiting Nairobi National Park, the buses will make two trips each day, running from 9 AM to 2 PM. You can catch them at Nagol Ivory Park or right at the main gate of the park.
If you’re an adult Kenyan citizen or part of the East African community, you’ll need to pay Ksh 1,500 for the services, while children will be charged Ksh 750. For adult residents who are non-Kenyans and not from the EAC, the fee is Ksh 2,000, with Ksh 1,000 for children.
When it comes to Aberdare National Park, adult citizens and EAC members will pay Ksh 1,000, and children will be charged Ksh 750. Residents, on the other hand, will need to pay Ksh 1,500 for adults and Ksh 1,000 for kids.
The buses will make one trip each day, leaving the Nyeri Post Office at 9 am.
At Lake Nakuru National Park, shuttles will run twice daily, at 9 am and 2 pm. The fares are Ksh 1,750 for adult citizens and EAC members, and Ksh 850 for children. Residents will pay Ksh 2,000 for adults and Ksh 1,000 for kids. You can catch the shuttle at the Railways near the police station.
These shuttle services mainly operate on weekends and public holidays, making it easy for tourists to enjoy game drives without the hassle of using their own vehicles.
“Starting this weekend, 20th December, we’re bringing back the bus shuttle service on weekends and public holidays only through the festive season as part of the Jiachilie in Kenya Parks holiday campaign,” KWS stated.
“Explore our parks with ease at: Nairobi National Park, Aberdare National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park. Affordable, convenient, and perfect for family adventures this holiday season,” it added.
This comes a day after the government announced that it will reinforce surveillance on major transport corridors, in a bid to ensure safety during the festive season.
