Secrets Shake Amimo Legacy
The widow of the late radio presenter Festus Amimo has opened up about the intimate life she shared with the beloved Luo media figure, reminiscing about the playful squabbles and sweet moments that characterized their marriage.
During a visit from politicians to their home in Awasi on Thursday, December 11, 2025, Rozy Amimo fondly recalled her husband, who sadly passed away on Sunday, December 7, after collapsing in a hotel in Nairobi’s Central Business District.
Rozy shared that one of the little things that often sparked minor arguments at home was Festus’s habit of always being on his phone.
“Sometimes we used to fight in the house because he was always on the phone,” she recalled.
“You don’t know what this phone does for me, but one day you will know what this phone does for me. This is my office, you don’t know what I’m coordinating,” Festus would explain, according to Rozy.
Despite the points raised, she expressed that those lighthearted disagreements were a vital part of their connection, showcasing a marriage rooted in love, respect, and understanding. Rozy also opened up about the deep lessons she has gained since her husband’s passing.
“Out of Festus’ death has taught me one thing: to always take one day at a time and always live for each day,” she said.
She remembered how Festus had left home feeling great on the day he passed away, playfully teasing her about what they would have for lunch later that day – a small, seemingly ordinary moment that would turn out to be her final memory of him.
“He left the house by 2 pm for a function and had asked me what we would eat later in the day, a question I always jokingly answer with ‘I don’t know much,’ to his chagrin,” she said.
Beyond the quirks and arguments, Rozy painted a picture of a man driven by determination, with a heart committed to achieving his goals.
“Festus was a good friend. I had a dear friend who would stand with you to death; if he set his heart to something, he would always ensure he had succeeded at it. He had a lot of plans for December and his plans for the next year. But God always has His plans,” she reflected.
Festus Amimo, who led the radio team at KBC’s Mayienga FM, is fondly remembered not just for his lively on-air presence but also for the warmth and commitment he brought to his family life. His unexpected passing has created a significant gap in the Kenyan media scene and has deeply affected the lives of his loved ones and friends.
