Pastor Ng’ang’a Sexual Assault Clip
A recent report presented to Parliament has shed light on the ongoing investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations into Apostle James Ng’ang’a, a preacher from the Neno Evangelism Centre, following a viral video that included comments about sexual assault.
The video, which made waves in early October, allegedly features Pastor Ng’ang’a admitting that, during his younger days, he and seven others were involved in an assault on a woman.
During a session of the National Assembly on Wednesday, November 26, the report detailed the steps the DCI has taken to verify and probe the authenticity of the viral clip.
Saku MP Rasso Dido stated that after Ng’ang’a’s shocking confession, the DCI promptly initiated an inquiry, leading to the preacher being summoned for questioning.
In his defense, Ng’ang’a took a moment to clarify that during a crusade back in September at Maili Tatu in Meru, he shared a personal story about his life, including his experiences in prison.
He mentioned that the sexual assault incident he referred to was actually a made-up example, inspired by tales from fellow inmates, meant to highlight the idea that anyone can find redemption, no matter their past.
Following this, a request was made to the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) to download and save the video clip from the link provided, in order to check if it was AI-generated and to prepare a forensic report.
Detectives also stepped in to investigate the congregants who attended Ng’ang’a’s sermon, aiming to interview them and gather more evidence for their inquiry.
As Rasso noted, the investigation into Ng’ang’a’s claims is still underway, with detectives working to piece together the details of the evidence, including conducting forensic analysis.
“Investigations are still ongoing, with forensic digital results and intelligence analysis being awaited to help in determining the authenticity of the clip,” Rasso stated.
He added, “Upon receipt of the forensic report, the inquiry file will be forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) for appropriate action.”
The update follows some concerns raised by a group of Kenyans, including Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, regarding Ng’ang’a’s controversial comments.
