Multiple Road Accidents Rock Kenyan Highways Leaving Death and Injuries in Their Wake
A tragic head-on collision on the Meru-Embu highway this Saturday morning has left one person feared dead and several others injured.
The crash involved a General Service Unit (GSU) truck and a public service vehicle heading towards Meru, occurring in the Kiracha area. Both vehicles were severely damaged in the front, a clear sign of the violent impact.
Eyewitnesses reported that the truck swerved into the matatu’s lane at a high speed, leading to the devastating collision.
Emergency crews, including police and rescue teams, quickly arrived at the scene to provide medical assistance and help clear the wreckage.
The injured passengers were transported to Chuka Referral Hospital for treatment.
On the same day, another incident occurred when a lorry carrying cement overturned near the slaughter area in Mufu, Runyenjes, also along the Embu–Meru highway.
Fortunately, three individuals involved in that accident only suffered minor injuries and were taken to Kyeni Mission Hospital for care.
Witnesses noted that traffic police stayed on-site to manage the recovery efforts and ensure the road could be safely reopened.
In a separate accident on June 27, two people lost their lives and three others were injured in a road crash along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway in the Kiongwani area of Makueni County.
This incident involved a pickup truck transporting avocados to Nairobi and a fuel tanker traveling in the opposite direction.
Witnesses described how the two vehicles collided head-on, resulting in the tragic deaths of two passengers in the pickup truck at the scene.
Both the tanker and pickup drivers suffered serious injuries and were initially taken to Sultan Hamud Sub-County Hospital before being referred to Makindu Level 5 Hospital for further treatment.and better quality finds!
