Grade Five pupil murdered in Kinangop
Police officers in the Soko Mpya area of Kinangop, Nyandarua County, have launched investigations into the gruesome killing of a Grade Five pupil from St. Christopher Primary School.
The young boy’s body was discovered early Thursday morning on a maize farm, with his head severed from his body — a horrifying scene that has left the entire community in shock and grief. The identity of his killers remains unknown, and detectives have begun collecting evidence to determine what happened and who was responsible.
According to residents, the boy had spent Wednesday afternoon on the farm helping his mother with chores. Later that evening, he disappeared without a trace, prompting a frantic search by family members and neighbours. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to find him until the next morning, when his body was found lying in the field.
Police officers who arrived at the scene found a bag beside the body containing maize flour and a change of clothes, which appeared to belong to the child. The discovery deepened the mystery surrounding the case and raised questions about whether the killing was premeditated or a result of another motive.
Shocked residents of Soko Mpya have condemned the brutal act, urging the authorities to speed up investigations and ensure that those responsible are apprehended. Many described the boy as humble, hardworking, and full of life, saying his death has robbed the community of a bright future.
Mary Muigai, a local child rights officer, called for increased parental vigilance, especially during the school holidays, when children spend more time at home and are often left unsupervised. She urged parents to prioritize their children’s safety and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
The boy’s body was moved to the Naivasha Hospital Mortuary, where a postmortem is expected to be conducted to help investigators piece together the circumstances of his death.
