They also mentioned that the individual in question has been taken into custody and is now awaiting his arraignment in court.
“During the raid, officers confiscated approximately 20 kilograms of unprocessed cannabis, along with 3,000 prepared rolls and 33 packages of the substance, which were retained as exhibits. The suspect was apprehended and will be arraigned in court,” NPS stated.
According to the National Police Service, the Umoja incident is part of ongoing efforts to tackle the distribution and misuse of narcotics both in the city and nationwide. The NPS praises the officers involved for their alertness and dedication in the battle against drugs and illegal alcohol.

Recently, police officers in Meru made a significant bust in a drug trafficking case, seizing 25 kilograms of cannabis sativa from a public service vehicle. The National Police Service (NPS) reported that this operation was set in motion after receiving a tip-off, which led the officers to stop a matatu heading from Nairobi to Maua, with the registration number KCS 884N.
On Monday, October 13, 2025, the NPS announced that they had stopped and thoroughly searched a vehicle, which led to the discovery of drugs cleverly hidden in several pieces of luggage.
Additionally, the NPS shared that during the search, police uncovered the narcotic substance tucked away inside a black suitcase, a black backpack, and a white carrier bag.
According to the NPS, these packages were being transported discreetly among the passengers’ belongings.
“The driver of the vehicle claimed that the luggage belonged to two of his passengers. The suspects were immediately arrested and taken to Meru Police Station, where they are currently being processed pending arraignment in court,” NPS stated.
