GSU officer killed in JKIA
Detectives are looking into a tragic incident involving a General Service Unit officer who was found dead while on duty at the security fence surrounding Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi.
This unfortunate event took place near the Kwa Mwenje Resort, which is close to the airport’s perimeter.
According to police reports, Constable Nahashon Katumo’s body was discovered in a pool of stagnant water near the resort shortly after he was killed on the evening of Sunday, October 12, 2025.
The motive behind the murder remains unclear for now. However, authorities mentioned that another GSU officer managed to apprehend the suspect after a brief chase.
It appears that the deceased officer had gone to the resort to charge his mobile phone and was leaving when he was attacked by a lone assailant.
Witnesses reported that the attacker struck the officer and pushed him into the pool of water, causing him to fall on his back while still in his official uniform. Tragically, it seems the assailant then drowned him, leaving the officer vulnerable due to the injuries he sustained during the struggle.
A colleague who was nearby rushed to the scene shortly after and found that the officer had already succumbed to his injuries, according to police.
His G3 rifle was found next to his body, untouched.
At that point, the colleague spotted the fleeing suspect and pursued him, leading to his arrest just a few meters away. The suspect had a head injury and was taken to the hospital while remaining in custody.
The officer’s body was recovered from the scene and taken to the mortuary for an autopsy, according to police reports.
Typically, armed officers patrol the airport’s perimeter fence. Authorities are currently looking into the motive behind this incident.
Senior police officials visited the site as part of their investigation into the murder.

His body showed signs of swelling in the face, chest, and hands.
The motive behind the murder remains unclear at this time.
The body was collected and taken to a local mortuary for an autopsy and further investigation.
Detectives examined the scene and determined it was a secondary location.
The investigation team is following leads to identify where the man was actually killed.
In the Mosoriot area of Nandi County, a 60-year-old man named Nathan Ngesirei was found dead and unclothed on the roadside after being murdered.
