In a tragic incident, an elderly woman was discovered murdered, her body left on a footpath in Bumula, Bungoma County.
Authorities are currently investigating to determine if the victim was sexually assaulted before her remains were discarded in a swampy area of South Bukusu village.
The motive behind this heinous act remains unclear.
The victim has been identified as 80-year-old Marceline Nasambu Wambuti, who lived alone in the area. She had not been seen for two days prior to the grim discovery of her body on October 9, 2025.
Police arrived at the scene and transported her body to the mortuary, where an autopsy is pending.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder, according to police reports.
Western Regional Police Commander Issa Mohamud stated that they are actively investigating the case.
In another disturbing incident in Rigoma, Nyamira County, a 60-year-old man named Nyakundi Mwamba was found dead, his body also abandoned on a footpath.
The assailants had gouged out his eyes, and his face was bloodied, suggesting he had been struck with blunt objects, which ultimately led to his death.
The motive for this murder is still unknown, police have indicated.
His body has been taken to the mortuary while detectives work to uncover the motive and identify those responsible.
Additionally, police in Embu are looking into an incident where a worker tragically died after falling from the third floor of a building that was under construction.
According to police, 22-year-old Peter Mugendi was among the workers at the site when he slipped and fell, landing headfirst.
A local hospital pronounced him dead upon arrival.
