Police Recover AK-47
A suspect wielding an AK-47 burst into a home in Kaapus, Turkana County, demanding to forcibly take a 16-year-old girl.
The National Police Service (NPS) reported that locals quickly raised the alarm, prompting a swift response from officers at the Lorugum Police Station, led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS).
“The team successfully recovered an AK-47 firearm loaded with six rounds of ammunition and one spent cartridge,” said the NPS.
The NPS has provided an update, stating that the suspect managed to get away, and a manhunt is currently underway to apprehend him.
In another incident in Uasin Gishu County, a police officer who works with Moiben MP Phyllis Bartoo is now in custody after he misplaced his firearm, which was loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition.
Corporal Silas Kiptoo was out enjoying himself at a popular club in Eldoret with two friends.
Around 11 pm on Friday night, he realized that his firearm, a Beretta pistol, was missing.
Authorities are actively working to recover the weapon. The officer is being held at the Sukunanga police station in Kesses, Uasin Gishu County, as the investigation continues.
