Woman scalds boyfriend with hot water, flees with Ksh.318K
A young man is fighting for his life in a city hospital after his girlfriend allegedly attacked him, pouring hot water on him and causing severe burns that nearly took his life. Steve Godia shared that the incident occurred on the eve of Valentine’s Day at his rented home in Umoja 1 Estate, Nairobi. He claims that his furious girlfriend confronted him over her suspicions of him being involved with an ex.
The police have been notified, but ten days later, the suspect is still on the run, leaving Steve and his family anxious for justice.
What was supposed to be a day of love turned into a nightmare. In a case that police are treating as attempted murder and serious assault, allegedly at the hands of a scorned lover, Steve Godia is now facing the aftermath. In agony, he struggles to comprehend how a day meant for celebrating love turned into a battle for survival.
Currently hospitalized, Steve recounts how he was attacked by his girlfriend, scalded with hot water during what he thought would be a peaceful discussion to resolve their issues.
Instead, that conversation spiraled into violence, leaving him with devastating injuries and a Valentine’s Day he will never forget.
“It was my girlfriend who burnt me because she felt that like my explanation about my ex-girlfriend was not enough and maybe when I spoke she felt I was being disrespectful,” Godia noted.
Steve claims that the suspect, a woman he’s known for three years, came to see him that night with a very different agenda.
According to Steve, what started as a tense standoff quickly spiraled out of control. She reportedly pressed him about whether he was seeing an ex-girlfriend. Then, in the middle of the night, he says she boiled water and splashed it on his face. Moments later, she took off from the scene.
“The water was superheated to high temperatures. The next morning, my eyes were swollen, my entire face was swollen, I could not see anything. The wounds were aching,” he pointed out.
CCTV cameras caught the suspect just moments after the alleged attack, quickly making her way out of the building. Steve has identified her as Gladwell Kagai, a woman he trusted and had known for three years.
But the alleged assault was just the beginning of his troubles. While he lay there, helpless and in severe pain, Steve claims she stole two of his mobile phones and transferred over Ksh.300,000 from his account.
“I realized she had taken my two phones and drained all my money. I had Ksh.318,000, and she left me with just Ksh.7. The police say they’re working on it, but I feel like they’re moving too slowly. I want to see her arrested and brought to court,” Godia expressed.
Steve, a third-year student at Multimedia University, says this whole ordeal has caused him to miss his exams, adding to both his physical and emotional distress. He just hopes the suspect will be caught soon.
