Kanyari’s Church Turns Choma Grill
Controversial city preacher Pastor Victor Kanyari has once again found himself at the center of public attention — but this time, it’s not for performing his usual “miracle” stunts. The flamboyant pastor, known for his dramatic preaching style and showmanship, is making headlines after a video showing what appeared to be a Nyama Choma feast inside his church went viral on social media.
The clip, which spread widely over the weekend, shows Pastor Kanyari passionately dancing on stage during a Sunday service. Dressed in his signature flashy suit, the preacher is seen leading worship as his choir sings upbeat gospel songs. But the real shocker for many viewers was a man in the background calmly chopping up pieces of roasted meat right there in the middle of the church.
The scene quickly drew mixed reactions online. Some Kenyans praised the preacher for bringing joy and creativity to worship, calling it a “uniquely Kenyan” expression of faith and fellowship. Others, however, accused him of turning worship into entertainment, saying the act disrespected the sanctity of the church.
Still, a section of his followers came to his defense, arguing that church should be a place of joy, community, and celebration, not just solemn rituals. They claimed the event was a way of bonding and sharing blessings among believers.
Pastor Kanyari, who leads the Salvation Healing Ministry, is no stranger to controversy. Over the years, he has built a reputation for his flamboyant sermons, televised “miracle” sessions, and bold declarations that often stir debate across the country.
In this latest episode, rather than addressing the barbecue happening behind him, the preacher appeared completely unfazed — continuing to dance energetically as the aroma of roasted meat filled the sanctuary. Whether viewed as creative or controversial, one thing is clear Kanyari knows how to keep Kenyans talking.
