Farewell to Fallen Officer
Kennedy Nzuve, the brave Kenyan Police Officer who tragically lost his life while serving in Haiti, was laid to rest on Thursday, October 2, at his home in Kyakatolwe Village, Machakos County.
At the funeral, Jackson Kangani, the Director of Operations for the Administration Police Service (APS) and representative of Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, paid tribute to Corporal Nzuve, describing him as a dedicated and lively officer.
“He described him as being deeply committed to his duties and noted that he was always considered a reliable and dependable officer by his seniors,” NPS said in a statement.
The funeral saw a gathering of notable figures, including Machakos County Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi Kilonzo, Edward Githaiga, the CEO of the Africa 4 Haiti Initiative, Rapid Deployment Unit Commandant Aggrey Shamala, and APS Chief of Staff Haron Nthiga.
Also in attendance were Machakos County Police Commander Monica Kimani, APS Staffing Officer for Operations Simon Njega, Machakos AP County Commander Gathitu Ndegwa, and Kalama Sub-County Police Commander Patrick Gatirira.
Nzuve, who was the sole child in his family, is survived by his wife, Gladys Ndunda, and their two children.
The late police officer was honored with a 21-gun salute, a fitting tribute to his dedication to the country.
Nzuve tragically lost his life in a road accident while he was on duty with the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti.
The heartbreaking incident took place on Sunday, August 31, 2025, around 5:00 PM on the perilous Kenscoff–Pétion-Ville road at Perlerin 9.
MSS officers were in the midst of a vehicle recovery operation that involved two MaxxPro armored vehicles.
As they were working, one of the vehicles was towing the other when they encountered some mechanical issues, which ultimately led to a tragic accident.
Nzuve was quickly taken to Lambert Santé Hospital in Pétion-Ville after the crash, but sadly, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
His body was brought back to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on the evening of Thursday, September 26, 2025.
The emotional homecoming was witnessed by Nzuve’s family, with his mother, Serah Nzuve, at the forefront of the family delegation.
