Kalonzo breaks down into tears as he mourns Raila
The leader of the Wiper Party, Kalonzo Musyoka, was visibly emotional at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as he grieved for his close friend, Raila Odinga.
In a heartfelt video posted on his official X account on Friday, October 17, 2025, you can see Kalonzo dabbing at his tears with a white handkerchief, surrounded by fellow Wiper Party leaders who were there to support him.
The leader, who was a close political ally of the late Rt. Honourable Raila Odinga later took to his X account, expressing his heartfelt condolences while describing Raila’s life.
“I was joined by the leadership of @TheWiperParty this morning at JKIA, Nairobi. These are truly heavy days for our nation. As we gather to celebrate Raila’s remarkable life, we will find solace in his spirit of courage, unity, and justice,” said Kalonzo.
It’s worth mentioning that this news comes just a day after Kalonzo’s secretariat announced he had canceled his UK tour to head back to Kenya for the late Raila’s funeral.
According to the Wiper Presidential Secretariat, Kalonzo took off from Heathrow International Airport in London on Thursday evening.
In a recent update, Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka shared that he welcomed some distinguished guests from Tanzania at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in preparation for the state funeral of the late Raila Odinga.
On Friday, October 17, 2025, Kalonzo took to X to express his honor in receiving former Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete and Vice President Philip Mpango, who came to Nairobi to pay their final respects to Raila Odinga.
“This morning at JKIA, I had the honour of welcoming former President of Tanzania, H.E. Jakaya Kikwete, and the Vice President, H.E. Philip Mpango, who came to Nairobi to pay their last respects to their dear brother and friend, Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, EGH.
“Their presence shows just how deeply Raila’s life touched people beyond our borders,” Kalonzo said.
He added that Raila was not only a political icon in Kenya but also a continental figure whose influence and relationships extended across Africa.
“These are truly heavy days for me and for our nation. I have lost more than a political ally; I have lost a brother and a friend.
“We walked together through moments of struggle, hope, and belief in a better Kenya,” he added.
