Teenager Dies in Kathonzweni Tragedy
A tragic incident occurred in Kathonzweni, Makueni County, where a 19-year-old woman lost her life after being trapped in a borehole when its slab collapsed. According to the police, Janet Ndulu was one of four individuals who were fetching water from a community borehole on Saturday when the concrete foundation gave way.
All four were caught in the collapse.
They were quickly taken to the hospital, but sadly, Ndulu was pronounced dead upon arrival, as reported by the police.
Her body has been transferred to the mortuary, awaiting an autopsy.
The other three individuals are currently hospitalized and in stable condition.
This area is grappling with a drought and severe water shortages, which is why residents rely on the community borehole for their water supply.
In a separate incident in Ahero, Kisumu County, police are looking into a murder case after a decomposed body of a man was discovered in a culvert.
Authorities believe the man may have been killed and placed in the culvert at an unknown time.
His body has also been sent to the mortuary for identification and an autopsy.
The police are actively investigating the murder, but the motive remains unclear. They have urged locals to report any missing persons to the authorities.
Additionally, in Embali, Vihiga County, another body was found on the road with severe head injuries.
The police have stated that the incident was staged to appear as an accident.
Witnesses reported seeing a bicycle with a jerrican of milk lying next to the body.
Authorities confirmed that the deceased was Zablon Aruka, 48 years old. They noted that his head had multiple cuts and his skull was fractured.
In a shocking detail, his right wrist had been severed. Police believe the body was transported to the scene after a murder took place elsewhere.
Residents mentioned that Aruka regularly delivered milk to a local dairy in Yala using his bicycle.
As for the motive behind the murder on October 11, 2025, police are still investigating.
The body has been taken to the mortuary, awaiting an autopsy. Meanwhile, in Hola, Tana River County, the body of a missing teenage boy was discovered in a thicket, suspected to be a murder victim.
Authorities reported that the boy had been missing since September 23, 2025, and the case was brought to their attention.
His body was found on October 11, 2025, in the Emmaus area, also with several cuts to the head.
The motive for this murder remains unclear as well.
The body has been sent to the mortuary for an autopsy and further investigation.
Police have indicated that no arrests have been made related to this murder. In Sondu, Kericho County, two suspects were apprehended in connection with other murder cases in the area.
One of the suspects was saved by the police and taken to Kericho after a mob threatened to storm the station, while the other suspect turned himself in, fearing he would be lynched. Authorities have stated that they are looking into the murder allegations. The man who was rescued was first taken to the hospital and then moved to Kericho for his own protection, according to the police
